WE ARE CELEBRATING TWO SPIRIT, INDIGIQUEER, AND INDIGENOUS LGBTQPAI+ PEOPLE
We come to Tongva lands from many nations, lands, and waters...
Indigenous Pride Los Angeles recognizes the need to have a space where Indigenous people from all lands, waters, and nations can meet and celebrate our indigenous heritage, cultures, and identities. In our homelands and communities, we acknowledge that we cannot live in our truths because of the effects colonization and missionization had on our peoples. In addition, Indigenous Pride LA also acknowledges that Two Spirit, Indigiqueer, and Indigenous LGBTQPAI+ individuals have limited resources and access at most pride events in which we can not celebrate our unique identities.
🔔 ACTION NEEDED 🔔 TODAY Nov. 9, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the constitutionality of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) — a 44-year-old law that was put into place to address the systemic removal of Native children from their families, communities, and culture.
If the Supreme Court decided to dismantle ICWA, it would have devastating effects not only on Native children and communities but for Tribes’ inherent right to self-govern and determine what is best for their citizens.
There is still time to be heard!
